Yahara House is open to members and hosted by two staff from 12-3pm on New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. We plan a meal to share at no cost. It is sometimes catered from a local restaurant, or if the weather is nice, we can grill outdoors. Holidays can be a challenging time for everyone, we love to spend them together!
For example, the Day of Giving Thanks is a special day the Wednesday before Thanksgiving where all members, staff, associate members and former staff can come with up to two guests and enjoy a free, homemade, traditional Thanksgiving meal (there is also a vegetarian option). The clubhouse does not do any department work on this Wednesday so that everyone who wants to can help with preparing the meal and setting up the cafe. The Rafters committee is made up of members and staff that help organize this event.
